Panaji: Stating that interstate bus transport will not start, Chief Minister Pramod Sawant on Monday said relaxations that were provided by the state government during the lockdown 3. 0 will continue in the fourth phase as per the guidelines issued by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs.
Addressing media through a web conference, Sawant said that out of the 35 COVID-19 positive patients in the state, only four are outsiders, while the remaining 31 have local Aadhaar card, voting card and also local address. He said 33 travellers arrived in Goa from Maharashtra and two travelled from Karnataka.
He said the people in the state should not get panicky, as there is no community transmission of the COVID-19 virus. “Goa is the only state having testing facility on arrival of people from other states and countries, the Chief Minister claimed and added that so far there is no community transmission of COVID-19 in the state.
The Chief Minister informed that a total of 450 persons were in quarantine facility in hotels for two-three days after they arrived in the state. He said presently around 150 persons are in institutional quarantine facilities and added that the people coming down to Goa are charged Rs 2,000 for medical testing, hotel stay and food.
On the return of migrants, the Chief Minister said that over 1. 5 lakh migrant workers have registered themselves to go home. He said till date over 10,500 migrants have been sent back to their native places by special trains after the respective state governments arranged trains for them. He said West Bengal and Bihar governments have not yet arranged trains to take back their people from Goa.
Sawant further said that on his request, the Rajdhani Express train from Delhi has been terminated and the Delhi-Trivandrum train will continue to stop at the Margao railway station.
He said the SSC and HSSC examinations will be held as per the schedule. “Goa Board has made arrangements for students from Maharashtra and Karnataka to answer exams from near their native places. For Goan students, the Goa Board of Secondary and Higher Secondary Education has arranged schools near their villages. Only 12 students will seat in each classroom, he said.
Sawant warned action against private companies laying off workers. “Labour commissioner is collecting information regarding layoff of workers in the industrial sector. Once the list is ready, the labour inspectors will visit the particular firms and initiate action if central guidelines are found to be violated, he said.
The Chief Minister said that though all economic activities will continue as per the MHA guidelines, interstate bus transport will not start during the fourth phase of the lockdown.
