13 Valpoi JNV students brought back to Goa from Delhi #IndiaNEWS #Goa News
VALPOI: Thirteen students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidhyalay (JNV), Valpoi, who were involved in  yearly ‹migration programme› and subsequently stranded in Delhi due to the lockdown, have been brought back to the state.

It may be recalled that the 13 students,  stranded in Mungeshpur, Delhi, were not able to return to the home state since the end of March.

Parents of the children had a series of meetings with the JNV school committee and state authorities but had failed to get any positive response due the rising number COVID-19 cases.

Finally, a delegation of parents met the Union Minister of State for AYUSH (Independent Charge) Shripad Naik, who then undertook the process for the return of these students.

Both the governments finally granted permissions for the return of the students, and an elaborate arrangement was made. A special bus of KTC was chartered to bring the stranded students.   The students boarded a special bus in New Delhi and reached Ramblake, Madhya Pradesh, and were then transported from there in a KTC bus to Goa.

According to the parents, the students, who have returned from New Delhi, have now been quarantined at the Mayem Residency. They would be tested for COVID-19 and will be sent home once proven negative for COVID-19.

PTA chairman Rajendra Gawas said that parents were concerned about the children who were stranded in Delhi and many efforts were done to bring them back.

“We thank AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik for his efforts in bringing back our children safely to Goa. He not only assured us, but acted swiftly to ensure that the students returned home safely, said Gawas.

The parents further thanked state authorities including KTC for their efforts in the safe return of their children.
