India’s Covid-19 story is panning out in two directions currently. The number of active and daily new cases are trending downwards, and the vaccines administered are charting upwards.As of January 31, the country has inoculated more than 37 lakh frontline and healthcare workers against the novel coronavirus. India has seen more than 1 crore Covid-19 cases and 1,54,274 people have died due to the infection.The government has identified 3 crore essential workers to vaccinate in the first phase, but the drive has been slow to pick up because of vaccine hesitancy and technical glitches.
