MTTM students of Dempo College demonstrate solid waste management #IndiaNEWS #Kurio City

graduate department of tourism studies of DCT’s SS Dempo College of Commerce
and Economics, in association with Eco Kshatriya Foundation, headed by assistant
professor Cheryl Dias organised a solid waste management demonstration at St
Theresa Higher Secondary School, Santo Estevam; St Micheal Higher Secondary
School, Taleigao; Anjuman Himayatul Islam High School, Baina Vasco Da Gama;
Deepvihar Higher Secondary School, Headland Sada; Sri Vasant Vidyalaya Siolim
and St Xavier’s Higher Secondary School, Mapusa. The department promotes
responsible tourism and encourages students to care for local communities.
Students demonstrated how to compost kitchen waste using earthen pots. The goal
of this demonstration was to instil the right attitude among school children,
convey the idea of segregation, and display kindness to humans who are involved
in waste management.



Students were also sensitised about the ill effects of
burning wood, leaves and plastics. They segregated and composted at home,
and then shared their experience on individual blogs. The entire activity of
composting, blogging and demonstration was part of experiential learning for
the subject sustainable tourism associated with their MTTM programme.
