The April 18 Shanghai International Auto Show brought the latest models of car under one roof. During the event, Huawei and Hongqi became one of the important highlights of the event. At the event, Huawei launched the Polar Fox Alpha S in collaboration with BAIC. Additionally, Huawei also showcased a new car which was built collaboratively with Hongqi.

Huawei and Hongqi joined hands to make the concept of the new car come true. The new car model is reportedly based on the Hongqi EHS9 model. This newest model uses Huawei’s solution and is equipped with AR HUD and smart cockpit solutions, as per the reports.

The smart cockpit in the model comes as an intelligent component and solution released by Huawei just before the auto show. The computing platform of the cockpit operates on Hongmeng OS.

Moreover, the core services of the car, display platform, software and hardware ecology and the empowerment of the car happen through various advanced technologies. This newest model comes with an independent NPU which brings more powerful car and machine modules.

It also adds up AR-HUD display technology with smaller volume, larger field of view and high-definition display. Reports claim that although Huawei AR-HUD is only 10L in size, it can deliver a high definition picture quality ensuring immersive visual experience and safe driving assistance.

The hardware upgrading brings a smart cockpit chip which adopts a pluggable design and has a standardized interface. The chip can be upgraded in a three year cycle.

Huawei’s latest car components and solution technology

On the eve of Shanghai International Auto Show 2021, Huawei released a new generation of smart components and solutions including 4D imaging radar, AR-HUD, and MDC810. These smart solutions include HarmonyOS vehicle operating systems and core services. This system gives the car the Kirin module with independent NPU which can do complex end-side processing.

The AR-HUD from Huawei has a volume of only 10L and adjusts the projection area according to the user’s eye position. This gives the car ability to use ordinary windshields and adjust the viewing position to display the navigation, perception, vehicle status, and other data to the user at any time.

Huawei’s high-resolution 4D imaging radar uses a large 12T24R antenna array and is 24 times higher than the conventional millimeter-wave radar 3T4R antenna configuration. It has excellent range and speed measurement capabilities, improved target detection and other functions including environmental characterization, composition, positioning etc.

Huawei MDC 810 has a dense computing power of 400 TOPS and meets ASIL D functional safety requirements.
